A sample market launch brief

A first market.
A clear starting point.

An idea made concrete. This illustrative Highway 108 brief shows the kind of starting point you can create in your own workspace.

Illustrative working brief. Highway 108 is our founding pilot; individual merchants, offers and commercial terms are not yet confirmed.

Purpose

Working name
Highway 108 Market — an illustrative launch brief
Which place and community?
Residents, small businesses and visitors along California’s Highway 108 corridor.
What is the shared opportunity?
Make useful local services easier to discover and help invited merchants grow through trusted community recommendations.
What would success feel like?
Completed services, returning customers and fair recognition for the local people who help introduce them.

People

Who would help organize it?
The Community.Markets founding team will operate the pilot while looking for suitable local operating partners.
Which merchants and cosellers could join?
Local merchants will join by invitation. Repair specialists, creative services and experience hosts are example categories; no individual merchant is confirmed here.
What can you bring together?
Local relationships, merchant outreach and the Community.Markets organizing tools.
Who or what is missing?
Confirmed sellers and offers, an operating entity, payment setup and agreed commercial terms.

First activity

What is the first useful activity?
Invite a small set of service merchants to define their offers, then coordinate a focused local discovery campaign. The site’s sample prices are illustrations only.
Who would benefit or pay for it?
Residents looking for useful nearby services, and merchants seeking relevant local customers.
How would you know it worked?
Track accepted offers, completed services, repeat customers, refunds and feedback from merchants and cosellers.

Participation

How might decisions be made?
The founding team approves pilot participation, commercial terms and campaigns. Each merchant remains responsible for the service they agree to deliver.
Which contributions should be recognized?
Merchant services, useful introductions, local stories, campaign coordination and customer support.
What commercial terms need agreement?
Use The Js commercial policy as the starting model: merchant-specific commissions, a coseller pool based on net commission, and explicit settlement before payouts. Seller terms still need agreement.

Readiness

What resources are available?
The founding team’s time and invitations. Merchant availability and budget are still to be agreed.
What still needs figuring out?
Which services should launch first? Who will operate checkout? What cancellation terms fit each service? Who can become a long-term local operator?
What help would you like from Community.Markets?
Review the first offers, prepare onboarding and establish a clear, manageable pilot launch.
